Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1 — Arrival in Cairo
Your Experts Holidays representative will greet you at Cairo International Airport and transfer you to your hotel. The evening is yours to relax and settle in. Welcome dinner at a traditional Egyptian restaurant introduces you to the flavours of mezze, grilled meats and freshly baked bread.
Day 2 — The Giza Plateau & Egyptian Museum
An early start takes you to the Giza Plateau before the crowds arrive. Your licensed Egyptologist guide will reveal the engineering genius behind the Great Pyramid of Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure — built with such precision that modern engineers still debate their construction. Stand face-to-face with the Great Sphinx, guardian of the plateau for over 4,500 years. After lunch, explore the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square, home to over 120,000 artefacts including the golden death mask of Tutankhamun and the Royal Mummy Room.
Day 3 — Old Cairo & Khan el-Khalili Bazaar
Discover the layered history of Islamic and Coptic Cairo. Visit the Hanging Church, built atop a Roman fortress; the Ben Ezra Synagogue, one of Egypt’s oldest; and the atmospheric Al-Muizz Street, a living open-air museum of medieval Islamic architecture. Lose yourself in the labyrinthine lanes of Khan el-Khalili, Cairo’s legendary bazaar, where craftsmen have been selling spices, perfumes, jewellery and textiles since the 14th century.
Day 4 — Fly to Aswan | Felucca Sail & Nubian Village
Fly south to Aswan, Egypt’s sunniest city, where the Nile narrows between smooth granite boulders and desert islands. Board a traditional felucca sailboat and drift along the river past the botanical gardens on Kitchener’s Island and the graceful domed mausoleum of the Aga Khan on the west bank. Moor at a Nubian village for a vivid glimpse of this proud ancient culture — colourful houses, warm hospitality and strong hibiscus tea.
Day 5 — Aswan High Dam, Philae Temple & Journey North
Visit the Aswan High Dam, the engineering feat that tamed the Nile and reshaped Egypt’s modern economy. Then take a short motorboat to the island temple of Philae, dedicated to the goddess Isis and reassembled stone by stone after the dam’s construction. Board your Nile cruise vessel and sail north, stopping at the double-temple of Kom Ombo, uniquely dedicated to both the crocodile god Sobek and the falcon god Horus.
Day 6 — Edfu Temple & Arrival in Luxor
Moor at Edfu to visit the best-preserved temple in Egypt. The Temple of Horus, completed in 57 BC, still feels alive with its soaring pylons, dark hypostyle halls and sacred inner sanctuary where the golden statue of Horus once resided. Continue sailing to Luxor — ancient Thebes — the world’s greatest open-air museum.
Day 7 — Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut Temple & Karnak
Cross to the West Bank and enter the Valley of the Kings, where pharaohs of the New Kingdom were buried in elaborate rock-cut tombs. Visit three royal tombs, each decorated with vivid scenes from the Book of the Dead. See the iconic Colossi of Memnon and explore the magnificent mortuary temple of Queen Hatshepsut. In the afternoon, cross to the East Bank and enter Karnak Temple Complex — 100 hectares of temples, obelisks, sacred lakes and the incomparable Hypostyle Hall, its 134 columns standing like a stone forest.
Day 8 — Luxor Temple & Departure
Spend a leisurely morning at the Temple of Luxor before your transfer to Luxor Airport for your flight home. Depart with memories that will last a lifetime.
